Cooking Bacon in the Oven

If you are making a BLT, bacon, lettuce, and tomato sandwich, you probably want nice flat pieces of bacon. Maybe you want a few flat pieces to place beside your waffles. If you are making breakfast for a crowd, cooking bacon on the stove takes time and attention. Not to mention a mess.

Would you like to cook bacon without all that splattering mess? Would you like to have your bacon cooked it nice flat strips?

Face it, bacon splatters all over when you cook it on top of the stove. But, how else can you cook it?

Have you tried cooking bacon in the oven? This method provides a couple of things.

First, your stovetop does not get splattered with bacon grease. Cooking bacon in the oven keeps the splatters to a minimum.

Second, you get flat pieces of bacon.

How do you cook bacon in the oven?

Cover a baking sheet with foil. This will aid in cleaning up the bacon grease.

Spread the bacon out on the sheet. Try not to overlap or lay pieces on top of each other. They will cook more evenly this way.

Bake at 375 or 400, depending on your oven, for about 20 minutes. If it is not done to your desired level of crispness, bake it a little longer. Keep an eye on it at this point so it does not get too done.

Drain on a paper towel to completely free the bacon of grease. If you don’t like to use paper towels, you can drain it on a clean rack over another baking sheet. You want the bacon to be as free of grease as possible.

Use it immediately or freeze it to use later.
